Kings Park and Botanic Garden

Our Promise

Perched high on the Mt Eliza escarpment in the heart of Kings Park, the Western Australian Botanic Garden is a sweeping 17 hectares of stunning garden displays, featuring striking species from around the State. Since its opening in 1965, the focus of its collections has been the cultivation and display of Western Australian flora, now displaying around one quarter of WA's endemic species.

Smart Air Samplers Deployment

In the Kings Park and Botanic Garden, smart air samplers are placed among diverse plant collections to capture airborne spores. This setup enhances early detection of myrtle rust, supporting biosecurity research and conservation efforts.

Deploying in progress..

This project enhances myrtle rust monitoring across Australia, integrating diagnostics, outreach, and education through collaboration with botanic gardens.

This project received grant funding from the Australian Government Saving Native Species Program. See more information: Nature innovations: Harnessing AI for conservation | Ministers (dcceew.gov.au).
